The other day, I raved about “Undefeated,” the Oscar-winning documentary about a high school football team in north Memphis and their coach, Bill Courtney. When I tweeted a link to my review, I got a thank-you from Bill, so I invited him to join me on KTRS to talk about it. Among the questions I asked:
- how he motivated a team that had a history of losing by teaching them discipline and character;
- how he handled trouble from one kid in particular whose actions threatened to destroy the team;
- how he drew inspiration as an athletic coach from his high school chess coach;
