If you’ve come to me today for some savvy insight or snarky comments about the Trump shooting this weekend, I’m sorry to disappoint you. I don’t have anything unique to share that isn’t already being said by too many others.
When I hosted a radio show, with hours of airtime to fill, I had to come up with a hot take on every big news story. But since I left the business a half-dozen years ago, I no longer feel the need to step out onto that precipice and offer a viewpoint when I don’t really have one.
However, I will say this. There has been the usual flow of vitriolic garbage spewed (on this subject and many others) by Fox News hosts, Trump-loving members of Congress, and other MAGA Morons. They make me long for the days when those who wanted calm, thoughtful opinions could always turn to Morton Downey Jr.
