1. For many years, I have advocated for Bonnie Raitt to be named a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors. Well, it finally happened today, as she has been named to this year’s cohort alongside Francis Ford Coppola, The Grateful Dead, Arturo Sandoval, and The Apollo.

The latter is the legendary music venue in Harlem. I didn’t know buildings were eligible for Kennedy Center Honors. But maybe it will get a shorter tribute than the humans. That will leave plenty of time for a 17-hour segment on The Dead which would comprise a jam session on a single song.

Anyway, I’m thrilled Bonnie will be recognized, and look forward to an appearance by Brandi Carlisle — who shows up at every event honoring her heroes — probably singing “Angel From Montgomery.”

In case you missed it, I professed my longtime love for Bonnie here.
