Now that recreational marijuana is legal in Colorado and Washington, and medical marijuana is legal in 19 states and DC, pro-pot groups are trying to make strides in other parts of the country. On my America Weekend show, I talked with Dave Boyer, political director for the Marijuana Policy Project in Maine, where a legal marijuana referendum will be on the ballot this Tuesday.
We discussed whether it’s better to have the public vote on legalizing pot or let the state legislatures do it, how many of the arguments against it (based on scare tactics) have been proven false, whether other parts of the country are having similar referenda, and the MPP’s agenda for the next couple of years.
