There’s yet another movie headed our way about Roald Dahl’s classic character Willy Wonka. This one, starring Timothée Chalamet, will tell Wonka’s origin story, with the help of lots of CGI and Hugh Grant as an Oompa-Loompa.
What I’m waiting for is the other Wonka-verse story, the one that explains:
- How eleven-year-old Charlie Bucket manages to run Wonka’s company after it was bequeathed to him by the chocolate magnate while flying through the roof in a glass elevator;
- Whether Charlie uses some of his newfound choco-wealth to at least buy separate beds for his four grandparents;
- Is Charlie besieged by lawsuits from the families of Mike Teevee, Veruca Salt, Augustus Gloop, and Violet Beauregarde for what happened to them on the factory tour?
- How does Charlie handle it when the Oompa-Loompas go on strike for better working conditions?
To discover the answers, I suppose I’ll have to find a golden ticket.
