I’ve seen a couple of recent reports about a serious shortage of truck drivers and how it’s impacting the flow of goods across the country and thus our national economy. Both stories said the industry is having trouble recruiting younger drivers to take the place of those who are aging out of the business. It makes me think of the hand-wringing that came with the ongoing development of self-driving vehicles and the worry that would lead to the displacement of many long-haul truckers. While that might be a reason for the reluctance of new drivers to enter the business, I bet the freight-hauling and logistics companies would like to have the technology up and running right now.

Merck has announced it has a new anti-viral pill that’s 50% effective in treating COVID. The medication has been named “molnupiravir,” which really rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it? Why not give it a name that’s easier to remember, like “Covid-Away?” That would sound so much better in the inevitable commercials telling you to “Ask your doctor about Covid-Away.” If you think that doesn’t sound scientific enough, perhaps you’d like another dose of ivermectin.

I’m not bothering with a full review of the “Sopranos” prequel, “The Many Saints Of Newark.” All I’ll say is I was disappointed, to which I’m sure Livia would no doubt reply, “Poor you!”

I wish that every website that made me click the “Remember Me” box then proceeded to actually remember me.

Has anyone ever changed the channel after seeing the “Viewer Discretion Advised” warning?
