This is a clip from “Poker Night In America,” which airs Mondays on the CBS Sports Network, produced by Todd Anderson and my friend Nolan Dalla. The half-hour show is centered around a big-bucks no-limit hold’em cash game ($25/50 blinds and a minimum buy-in of $5,000) played by some well-known pros and a few amateurs. It’s much more interesting to watch than the worn-out televised poker tournaments, which repeatedly come down to a race between ace-king and a pair of queens.
The show also includes other segments, like an interview with poker legend Doyle Brunson that aired last season, and this discussion of poker in the movies which they taped last year, with pieces airing at the end of each show this season. In this segment (which includes the unaired portion), Phil Laak, Jennifer Tilly, and Richard Roeper discuss the ridiculous final poker scene in the James Bond movie, “Casino Royale,” which included an impossible hand and some epic slow-rolling by the hero!
