Mayim Bialik has done a good job over her two weeks as “Jeopardy!” guest host. As with Aaron Rodgers, it’s clear she’s a fan of the show and can handle its hosting duties well while having fun. I’d put her third on the Best Of list behind Ken Jennings (who remains my favorite to take on the job permanently) and Buzzy Cohen.
But, once again, what Bialik’s stint did was continue to prove what I’ve been saying for months — the show’s formatics are so solid and proven that any decent communicator can handle them without coming off too badly.
Incidentally, if you really miss Alex Trebek, his voice is still on the daily Amazon Alexa version of the game — just tell the device to “Play Jeopardy!”
And here’s an interview with the show’s head writer about the process of putting the clues together. It’s from six years ago, but I doubt very much has changed.
