When I heard about the death of Jerry Springer at age 79 yesterday, I remembered a conversation I had with him on November 16,1999. No matter what you thought of him and his show, I can tell you that he was a money-in-the-bank guest.

At the time, he had just defended himself before the Chicago City Council with self-deprecating honesty, admitting that he hosted the stupidest show on television. We discussed that, as well as an episode he did about a man who married a horse, his thoughts on the Jenny Jones show controversy, and whether he might run for the US Senate.
