We’ve just finished watching the six episodes that make up season three of “The Kominsky Method” on Netflix. The series definitely suffers from no longer having Alan Arkin around, since his chemistry with Michael Douglas was so good, and it’s always a pleasure to see Arkin do anything.
Without him, Douglas gets reunited with Kathleen Turner as his ex-wife. While they’re both good, the “Romancing The Stone” spark is long gone. The supporting cast of Sarah Baker, Paul Reiser, Lisa Edelstein, and Haley Joel Osment do their best, but “Kominsky” isn’t as enjoyable this time around.
I’m also disappointed that the writers continue to overuse cheap jokes about body parts and functions (e.g. farts, anus, and balls). That kind of material is usually evidence of a lack of creativity, which this season certainly suffers from.
